[ (Un)fortunately, this isn't the first time Matt's felt a sensation like this. He still remembers what it was like to be pulled out of a dumpster, bleeding out and barely hanging on to the edge of his life, and the subsequent days that followed while he forced his body to get over it. And even more recently the days following near-drowning after a whole building collapsed on him and pushed him through a short but turbulent tunnel system.
The point is, Matt's put himself into some pretty shitty situations, but at least what those other times had going for them was that he was still, if even barely, alive. He's never quite had to experience the feeling of being brought back from one state of being to another, so, while familiar, it's still a whole other level of dogshit. Maybe later he'll wonder if this is how members of the Hand feel when it happens to them.
For now, he wakes up with a pained groan, opening his eyes and sucking in a breath. Yep. Total dogshit. He's not even aware there's anyone else there with him as he pushes himself to sit up despite the sensation of the room spinning. ]
[Jesse still startles, admittedly, when he wakes up so abruptly, but Matt might hear her shuffling quickly to her feet as she clambers out of the chair.]
It's okay, Matt, take it easy. [Her voice is tight with worry, but making the effort to be calm and measured.] It's me, it's Jesse, you- died, during the flood. I'm gonna- help you sit up, hold on.
[She puts her hand on his shoulder, first, tensed for a negative reaction before she moves closer to help him sit up.]
[ Luckily he's not in any state to be too startled by her, and his current dignity is just low enough right now that he's not going to balk at being seen like this. He gets it. She's temporarily responsible for him, that's how this place works.
At least she's not laying into him like Foggy would. ]
Thanks.
[ He accepts the help, using the wall to support him and letting out a long exhale. This is fine. He can push through this, just like he pushes through everything. ]
There was this... weird fog, that was separating everyone, um. Sending people into this other dimension, isolating us. And then, uh. It got worse. Taking people to this- industrial hellscape, full of monsters. I, uh.
[Well, there's no easy way to say it. Rip off the bandaid.]
It get me into trouble more often than that. [ A brief pause. ] No, I seem to have a knack for missing out on most of the excitement around here. I try to catch up on the network.

After the flood
And Jesse's in the armchair, on her communicator, watching him like a hawk for when he does finally come back.]

Do you want to tell me anything else first? Before I get into it?
no subject
I am actually blind. People don't usually believe that part.

...look, if you tell me, I'll tell you everything I know about my powers too.

After the pairing announcement
[His voice is still a little whispery, a little hoarse. But he's mostly able to speak normally, considering.]
Or Matt, if you prefer. It seems the Admiral decided to give us a chance.
It's Father Oscar by the way. I apologize for my voice being a little...off.
no subject
[ There's a vaguely amused sound to Matt's voice, but he lets it dissipate. ]
I recognized your tone under the fatigue. One of those special abilities I have. I'm sorry you're not doing well.
no subject
[He's a little amused for a few moments, before it fades.]
Thankfully, I'm on the mend. I hope you've been well? And not affected by the recent attacks?

[His tone, whispery as his voice is, is gentle. Not scolding, just a reminder.]
It was fast if it helps. I believe there were quite a few murdered or injures by Sebastian Michaelis, if he is a friend, or ally.
We can meet in person though, to discuss what happened or our current situation, wherever you'd like. I'm still mobile.
[Just throat sore and mostly quesy.]
