Frank grumbles a low sound of annoyance because leave it to Murdock to deflect when push comes to shove, but it only further proves that yeah, maybe Frank is overreacting. Triggered doesn't even begin to cover it.
He tugs on Matt's hand and thus his arm to pull him down closer again.
"Just forget it," he decides, choosing to also deflect this time around. "We were having a good moment."
He should know by now that there's no way Matt's going to just forget it, but Frank's right, they were having a good time. It's just that Matt's top skill is ruining good moments.
Matt lets himself be tugged down, taking Frank's hand and absently winding their fingers together.
"I bet you're cute when you get flustered like that."
It's tempting to push and prod, but deep down inside, Frank knows he's had it down bad for a while now too. They're utterly lying to themselves if they claim otherwise, and while he hadn't ever wanted to fall for anyone else after Maria, this shit just... happens. As if they haven't been "together" for years. As if they're not a real item even if they refuse to label it.
They're naked in bed together holding fucking hands.
"Shut up," he sighs, kicking him playfully before tugging him even closer by the hand, scooting over too so he can lean in and kiss him. "And yeah, maybe I do like the validation."
Frank rolls on top easily, liking when Matt wants him close like this, and it's not often they get to just lounge around in bed together. Frank leans down to rub his scruffy cheek against Matt's on purpose, just to let him feel the stubble.
"I thought you'd like it," he says before kissing his neck instead. "Still enough to grab onto just for you."
Matt does to touch and feel, largely in part due to being blind but he likes the intimacy and comfort that can come with touching another person, casually or otherwise.
"Guess that conversation the other night woke both of us up," he murmurs, walking his fingers along Frank's shoulders to find the familiar lines of muscle and scars.
Frank leans more of his weight on top of Matt but with the position he shifts to get between his legs too. The fingers on his shoulders are nice and Frank hums, taking a deep breath.
"I guess so," he admits quietly, lips pressing to Matt's jaw. "But I like this. Like this side of you. All of it."
Matt likes all of Frank, too, but he has a soft spot for this side of Frank. This is the side he tried to tell the world about all those years ago, when Frank was on trial and Matt's ego made him think he was invincible.
"You might be the first person in the world to like all of me," he says, hitching one of his legs around Frank to keep him pressed close.
It means a lot to Frank, all joking aside, because at the end of the day, Matt sees him for everything he is too. They work because they embrace it all, even when they fight, but they keep coming back together anyway.
"I'll take it," he says softly as he kisses back to Matt's mouth, angling his hips to grind slowly down onto him. "I haven't seen you this fucking happy in a year."
Matt hasn't really had a reason to be happy. There's a sharp twist of guilt inside him that he's happy at all, let alone happy because he suited up again, and he's glad for the easy distraction of Frank's mouth and the friction of Frank's hips.
"Mm, you must bring it out in me."
He presses up against Frank, encouraging the slide of skin-on-skin contact.
It's good. Matt deserves happiness. Frank isn't one to tell him to move on because it's barely been a year and he'd win the hypocrite of the year award, but he wants Matt to use this pain to his advantage, while not losing who he is in the process. It's a delicate balance and one he can only try to help him maintain.
He squeezes one of Matt's thighs and urges him to draw it up against him. This is so different from the rushed intensity of the shower but just as good.
"You sayin' I make you happy?" he lets out a soft breath, amused, but fond. "You're getting real soft on me, Red."
As if Frank isn't. As if Frank hasn't always been the more sentimental of the two of them. Matt squeezes Frank's hips with his thighs, exhaling an easy and contented breath.
It's easier to talk about it without talking about... it. Even if a casual use of the L-word was enough to send him into a minor panic, Frank recognizes the truth in their reality, and that they're kidding themselves if they think this isn't close to that. Ugh. Something to think about later, on his own, when he can brood without it being overheard.
For now, he wants to kiss his something-of-a-boyfriend and grind into him some more, fingers digging into some of the bruises he started leaving before.
"Yeah, I am. When's it my turn huh?" he teases, clearly not minding though since they both get something out of this. Frank kisses him again, briefly this time. "Where's your shit?" The... lube. He means the lube.
Matt doesn't have to ask for clarification, gesturing vaguely to the nightstand.
"Stay the night and maybe I'll make you a fancy coffee in the morning," he teases back, releasing Frank from his thighs so he can move and get what he needs.
He's quick about leaning over to grab it, curious about the fact that Matt still kept some for himself even without them being in touch. Not that Frank expects him to never use it without him... but he hadn't asked if Matt's been with anyone else in the meantime. That would sound too possessive.
He gets himself slick while settling between Matt's legs again, raising an eyebrow at the fancy coffee on offer.
"To match your fancy kitchen in your fancy-ass apartment?" He teases, nudging up between Matt's legs where he's probably still tender, and this time Frank is less careful about nudging forward into him, giving Matt a spike of roughness with the added softness of everything else. He lets out a shuddering breath before he continues: "Fuck... alright. Maybe I'll stay."
Matt chokes out a little ah which melts into a breathy laugh, because he knew Frank wanted more just as much as he did.
"Maybe you'll get more than coffee."
He already knows he's going to show up at the office late and he's going to get shit for it, but some things are worth it. It wouldn't be the first time he lost punctuality due to a night with Frank Castle, one way or another.
Matt hitches his leg back around Frank, arching up against him.
He likes that sound and rolls his hips forward to incite more out of him, staying deep inside of him to keep Matt full. They're close enough for Frank to lean down and steal kisses in between, slowly rocking into him for now.
"Fancy pancakes too?" he asks with a smirk against Matt's lips, hand finding that leg to dig into his thigh as they move.
It's different than their moment in the shower, but the slow, languid pace does as much for Matt as when it was fast and rough. He kisses Frank's smirk before dropping his head back on the pillow.
"Keep this up and you can have whatever you want," he manages to say, skimming his fingernails along Frank's arms.
Frank chuckles and drops his head to kiss at Matt's neck when he leans back, enjoying the way he relaxes, and the scratch of nails along his arms earns a shiver of pleasure.
"Yes sir," he responds teasingly, hips rolling into Matt a little harder to give him more, knowing he can take it, though Frank stays close to him, not wanting to get too far. He's always enjoyed the intimacy of sex when they lose themselves in it and each other, not worried about how it may seem.
Eventually, Frank's hand sneaks between them to grasp Matt's length again too, giving him extra friction as he moves into him again and again.
